Children's Courses
DESCRIPTION OF COURSES
- Competent native speaker teachers.
- Small groups 6-10 so that children will be able to participate often in class.
- Age appropriate materials (songs, rhymes, games, stories, audio and visual material). We try as much as possible to use material originally written in the foreign language, so that children will internalize its natural rhythm.
- Use of the second language during the lesson (unless the use of English is necessary to avoid confusion). We encourage interaction in the second language (student-teacher, student-student) so that our students will learn to "think" rather than to "translate" in the language being learnt.
- We promote the developing of the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. This means that preschoolers will be working with phonics and pre-reading and writing abilities in the second language, while elementary school children will be developing further reading and writing strategies, which will be also useful when reading and writing in their first language.
- Children in the A, B and C systems are tested every lesson. There is a mid term and final test for each system. The purpose of testing is to measure progress of the student and to identify needs or lacks in the learning process.
