Our Teachers


Mr. Jean-Luc Balland
Nationality: French
Languages: French and English

Mr. Balland has a Bachelor degree in Art History from the Institut des Carrieres Artistiques (ICART) in Paris, France.  He is a former Curator and Coordinator of the Musee de la Resistance, Deportation et Liberation in Blois, France.

He has been living in Delaware since 2001 and he currently works as a French teacher and translator.  He has taught French at different levels.

Mr. Balland has been with Lingua Franca since January 2006.

Ms. Alondra Pacheco
Nationality: Chilean
Languages: Spanish and English

Ms. Pacheco is working towards her Master degree in Foreign Languages at the University of Delaware.

She has worked as a teacher since 2005 and has experience teaching children and adults.  She has taught an Advanced Summer course for high school students at a boarding school.  She served as an undergraduate teaching assistant during an exchange program at the UDLA in Pueblo, Mexico where she co-taught an advanced level Mexican culture class.

Ms. Pacheco is currently a Teaching Assistant at the University of Delaware.

Ms. Susan Fitzpatrick
Nationality: American
Languages: English, French and Italian

Ms. Fitzpatrick graduated from the University of Delaware with a Masters with Honors in French Language and Literature in May 2005.

While studying for her Bachelor degree, Ms. Fitzpatrick spent one semester in Paris, France. Most recently she taught English in four elementary schools in St. Etienne, France during the school year 2005-2006.  She has also worked as a French instructor for the Upward Bound Program.   She currently teaches Italian at the University of Delaware.
